Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect, part of Elk Grove Township and Wheeling Township, is a village in Cook County,
about 22 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Mount Prospect was incorporated as a village in 1917.
As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 56,265.
It imposes a transfer tax of $3.00/$1,000. Mount Prospect imposes the tax on the buyer of the property.
It also requires a final water bill. Further, the Village of Mount Prospect Finance Department will not
issue a Real Estate Transfer Tax Stamp for any property that has an unresolved Compliance Order or Notice of Violation.
Interestingly as of 15 June 2007 the Village does not require an inspection.
